Sportsfield Specialties is celebrating its 25th year in business. Founded in 1998 with the vision of offering the sports industry with a higher level of athletic construction equipment, the company opened their first manufacturing facility in Delhi, NY in 2003. The company now owns and operates another manufacturing facility in Mocksville, NC.

Sportsfield Specialties, Inc. received top honors at the American Sports Builders Association’s (ASBA) 2022 Technical Meeting Award Ceremony in Palm Desert, CA in early December. Accolades, including a Game Changer Award in the Fields Division for their new product innovation; the Synthetic Turf Infill Containment System, and recognition for their role as an equipment supplier on several award-winning sports construction projects.

This year has once again been a time for product innovation at Sportsfield Specialties. The extensive input of our sales team, as well as feedback from clients, alongside Sportsfield's in-house engineers, resulted in the introduction of our Fútwall® Five-A-Side soccer enclosure.

Each summer, Sportsfield Specialties invites talented college students from the region to participate in internships at their Upstate New York office. It is an opportunity for the students to develop practical skills in their areas of interest gleaned from working in Sportsfield's fast-paced corporate environment. We were fortunate to sit down and chat with this year's Summer Interns and learn more about their academic interests, internship duties, and favorite pastimes .

Venice High School in the Los Angeles Unified School District had a problem—their softball and baseball outfields were both shorter than the standard, which led to wayward balls landing in adjacent neighborhoods or parking lots, all located in downtown L.A. The Sportsfield Specialties Solution: conduct a trajectory study based on the venue, athletes, and conditions; and design a barrier netting system to catch the majority of balls exiting the fields. The new netting would become Sportsfield’s tallest system to date.

Springtime is upon us, and coaches, athletic directors, and groundskeepers are busy preparing athletes and their playing fields for winning seasons. Preparing isn’t only about dragging the infields, cleaning the catch basins, and running shuttles. Experts at Sportsfield Specialties say it is also about cleaning and conditioning the vinyl protective padding on the field.

In the sports equipment business, Valentine’s Day is not the first holiday that comes to mind in the month of February. Instead, we are focused on Super Bowl Sunday—the impressive rivalries, the post-game tears of joy and heartbreak, and, of course, the chicken wings. This year, however, we’re doing something a little different at Sportsfield Specialties. We have decided to make space for Valentine’s Day by inviting a few people to wax poetic about what they adore about Sportsfield.

Since its beginnings in 1998, Sportsfield Specialties has earned the trust of stadium designers for their vast experience, industry innovations, and commitment to quality, safety, and customer service. So, when Major League Soccer (MLS) Commissioner Don Garber announced a multi-year expansion that included construction of several new stadiums and the modernization of existing facilities, it was no surprise that Sportfield Specialties, Inc. had a place on the roster of equipment suppliers.

North Carolina’s Piedmont Triad, a region known for its thriving industrial culture, located between Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point, is getting a new resident. In early October, Sportsfield Specialties, Inc. will join the list of top-name manufacturers doing business in the heart of the Piedmont.
