Description

Shot put is a power-driven event that requires a controlled and well-defined throwing environment. Shot put throwing cages by Sportsfield Specialties are designed to help contain errant throws while protecting athletes, officials, and spectators during both practice and competition. Installed around the throwing circle, these systems create a clear boundary that supports safe and organized event operation.

Each cage is constructed with durable uprights and high-strength netting positioned to intercept off-line throws without obstructing visibility. This design helps facilities manage risk while allowing athletes to train and compete with confidence. Commonly used at high school, collegiate, and municipal track facilities, shot put cages play an important role in creating a professional and compliant throwing venue.

In addition to safety, these systems help define the throwing area and improve overall event management. By clearly separating the throwing zone from surrounding activity, facilities can maintain better organization during meets and reduce interference with other events taking place on the track.

For a complete throwing event installation, shot put cages can be paired with ThrowForm® throwing pad forming systems to ensure the throwing circle is built to exact specifications. While the cage provides containment and protection, the forming system helps create a precise, regulation-compliant concrete pad with proper dimensions and drainage, resulting in a fully integrated and competition-ready throwing area.

By combining containment systems with precision-built throwing surfaces, facilities can improve safety, simplify construction, and deliver a more consistent experience for athletes at every level.
