The opportunity to partner with the groundbreaking Major League Baseball game at Bristol Motor Speedway was a true milestone. This historic event, which brought the MLB to one of the most iconic racetracks in the world, provided us with the chance to showcase some of our premier products in a unique setting.
As the official supplier of the backstop netting system, foul poles, and protective padding, we were proud to contribute to the success of this event. Here’s a look at the work we did, and how our products helped to improve both safety and fan experience at the 2025 Bristol Speedway Classic.
Backstop Netting: Ensuring Safety and Visibility
Backstop netting is one of the most crucial elements for ensuring the safety of fans, players, and staff during any baseball game. At Bristol Motor Speedway, we faced the unique challenge of integrating our tension netting system into a non-traditional baseball setting. The sheer size and scope of the stadium meant that we had to provide a netting solution that not only protected the audience from foul balls but also kept the overall aesthetics of the venue intact.
We used Ultra Cross®, which is the highest-quality, most durable netting that provides exceptional strength without sacrificing visibility. This extremely light weight netting material aided in a unique netting design allowing fans to enjoy an unobstructed view of the game, while still ensuring that any hard-hit errant balls wouldn’t make it into the stands unexpectedly. The system was designed to blend seamlessly within the environment without compromising on safety. This was immediately put to the test during the rainy first inning when the hitter lost control of his bat mid swing sending it soaring towards the fans. This provided to be a small feat for the taut netting that absorbed the impact with ease, knocking it down towards the field.
Foul Poles: Iconic Design with a Modern Flare
Foul poles are not only a critical part of the field layout but also serve as an iconic visual marker for any ballpark. In a setting like the Bristol Motor Speedway, there were some limitations, but our team ensured the foul poles we supplied were both functional and eye-catching.
We crafted the foul poles and wings, ensuring they could withstand high-stress impacts, weather conditions, and the rigors of a major league event. These towering 60’ foul poles guaranteed accurate foul ball calls while still enhancing the overall aesthetic of the playing field.
Protective Padding: For Player Safety and Aesthetic Appeal
One of the key aspects of any baseball venue is protecting players from potential injuries and with a temporary venue like the Bristol Speedway Classic, this aspect is in the spotlight. At Bristol, our protective BaseZone® padding was emphasized in key areas around the playing field to cushion the impact from any hard collisions with the fences, walls, gates and other obstructions. Certain aspects of the temporary field design required custom padding solutions that fit perfectly into the space without compromising the visual impact of the stadium.
The color scheme of the padding was carefully chosen to match the theme of the venue and create a uniform, professional look throughout the stadium, while highlighting the sponsors of the event. The result was not only an enhanced level of safety for players, but also a visually cohesive design that complemented the venue’s unique character.
